Glass beads are a fun and colourful way to explore the world of glass! In this two-day class you will melt rods of soft glass in a small torch to make a gorgeous assortment of beads. Starting with the basic bead shape, you will learn decorative techniques such as frit, dots, and stringer and experiment with different shapes including simple sculptural forms.
In addition, you will learn technical aspects of glass and safety.
No experience necessary. All materials are included. Age 16+.
Students who have taken this workshop can attend Newbie Night.
About the Instructor
Hannah Mhairi was born and raised in the lower mainland of British Columbia. She discovered borosilicate glass in 2021 and quickly became an active member of Terminal City Glass Co-op, dedicating most of her free time to learning the art. Hannah has used social media, particularly instagram, to connect with other glass artists from all around the world, and to create an online portfolio. She has spent the last 2 and a half years living and travelling in various places across North America, UK, and Europe in the pursuit of glass knowledge and experiences. She recently returned to Vancouver after spending 5 months working at the renowned Corning Museum of Glass. Hannah has shown work at PoMoArts in Port Moody, and Sans Labels in Los Angeles.
