Instructors: Laura Burns & Heather Konschuh

This course will give you basic introductory skills in the hot shop, including how to gather, make a paperweight, blow bubbles and create your first blown glass vessel. You will learn about tools, studio safety and how to work in a team to have fun and blow glass! All materials are included.

No experience necessary. Age 16+. 

Completion of this course does not qualify you for Newbie Night; additional hours of instruction are required. Please see our Newbie Night page for details.

About the Instructors

Laura Burns is a graduate of Emily Carr University and has been working in glass since 1999, and has been teaching glassblowing since 2001. She has also studied glassblowing and glass sculpture at Red Deer College.

Heather Konschuh is a graduate of Alberta College of Art and Design and has also studied glass at the Australian National University. She has taught at Anthony Stern Glass in London, UK, and the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga Ontario.
