Hollow Boro Fundamentals - Six Week Course
April 6 - May 11, 2026
Thursdays, 5:00pm - 9:00pm
Level: Intermediate
Instructor: Hannah Mhairi

Fee: $925 + gst

In this intermediate course, students will learn the foundational techniques for constructing hollow forms from borosilicate glass tubing. Students will practice pulling points, connecting hollow handles, and opening holes in three different ways: puffing, snapping, and pulling a membrane. Students will also learn foundational colour techniques such as coil pots and blowouts, building the skills needed to control volume, shape, and wall thickness.

The goal of this class is for each student to be able to begin making hollow vessels and exploring hollow techniques. Throughout the course, we will focus primarily on clear glass with some colour accents while building an understanding of heat control, airflow, tools, terminology, and essential glass safety.

*Students should have at least 60 hours on the torch (instruction and practice time) and have a good foundational understanding of how to flamework solid borosilicate glass. Students should know how to punty, how to keep glass on centre, and how borosilicate glass behaves as a material. Not sure if you are ready for this class? Email us at info@terminalcityglass.com!
