Introduction to Glassblowing

This course will give you basic introductory skills in the hot shop, including how to gather, make a paperweight, blow bubbles and create your first blown glass vessel. Each week you will make new objects in glass. You will also learn coldworking techniques to finish and polish your pieces. You will learn about tools, studio safety and how to work in a team to have fun and blow glass! All materials are included. No experience necessary.

About the Instructor
Cameron Dougherty is a Californian recently transplanted to Vancouver. He studied glassblowing at Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina, then began working for artist Bryon Sutherland in Gridley, CA. Moving to Portland OR in 2015, he worked as a glassblowing instructor and demonstrating artist. Cameron’s passion for glass and his enjoyment of the process is evident in everything he makes.
