Collage Vessel Pendants and Beads
Sunday March 31, 2019
11 am to 6 pm
Instructor: Janice Peacock

In this class you’ll learn to use powders, enamels, frit, dichroic glass and foils to create vessel pendants and beads. These components used together create a beautiful collage of unusual overlapping colors and patterns on beads.

You'll also learn how to make good, strong, and symmetrical handles on a vessel. We'll also explore how to create a grainy effect on the surface of your beads, which make the pieces look like artifacts that have been dug up from an archeological dig.

You’ll learn to:

  • Use enamels and frits safely and effectively
  • Apply Dichro Gems to the surface of beads without scumming or distortion
  • Add and encase silver foil without it burning out
  • Use a thin encasing technique
  • Apply clear powder to create an etched and grainy effect
  • Create strong loops which can be used as vessel handles and much more

There will be lots of time to play with the endless decorative possibilities these components can create.

Beadmaking experience is required for this course. You should have taken at least one beadmaking course at TCGC or have equivalent experience elsewhere. Please contact us if you are unsure of your experience.
