Boro Beads for Beginners

Let's explore borosilicate glass beads on the mandrel. This course is designed for beginners and the boro-curious to learn about some of tips and tricks to making a boro bead. Borosilicate glass is worked hotter than soft glass, providing different options for what you can make with each material. We will explore tools, colours, layering and punty manipulation to start you on the journey. Students will have ample torch time to get feed back from instructor. No experience required. All materials provided.
Students who take this class are eligible to attend Newbie Night.
About the InstructorMaria Keating has been flameworking for over a decade, compiling techniques learned from the diverse local glass artists. As a teacher of organic gardening methods at the City of Vancouver Compost Demonstration Garden, she now brings her teaching methods to students who want to working in borosilicate and soft glass.
