This course will begin by going over important fundamentals of working with glass tubing, expanding into more advanced pattern, color and shaping techniques such as stacked dots, inclamos, line twists, inside work and detailed shaping methods. Students will learn about the working characteristics of various colors, and how to get the most from them as well as color theory, design fundamentals and the creative process.
This is an intermediate level course, previous experience with blown borosilicate forms on the torch required.
About the Instructor:
Beau Barrett is a borosilicate flameworking artist known for his diverse body of work that includes wearable beads and pendants, functional items, vessels, wine goblets, and sculpted glass. For Beau, understanding how working as a self-employed glass artist intersects with the rest of his life is as important as his finished art.
